读写绘话中秋月——园外小学部中秋节系列活动
又是一年中秋佳节,
也是园外家人的心彼此最贴近的日子,

There are many poems about the moon in Chinese literary history. Ancient Chinese Literati expressed their joys and sorrows by poetic verse in depicting the moon. For instance, “As the bright moon shrines over the sea, from far away you share this moment with me.” And “Now the ancients could never see the moon again, which once shed its sliver light upon them.” Recently, SIPFLS Primary School has launched a calligraphy campaign about THE MOON. Students wrote the poems such as Water Song (by Su Shi) as well as Viewing the Moon, Thinking of You (by Zhang Jiuling), demonstrating the charm of Chinese calligraphy.

On this particular day, our students also made the Mid-Autumn-Festival themed picture books themselves. They learned about the tradition through writing and drawing.

Moon Fairytales & Moon Cakes
SIPFLS features its Reading Courses. Under the guidance of the teachers, students searched all the Chinese myths and legends on/offline to explore the very source of the Festival.

Our senior students demonstrated their presentations with various stories about the Mid-Autumn Festival to the junior students in the classroom, including "Yi Shot the Sun”, “Lady in the Moon”, “The Jade Rabbit’s Medicine and the Moon”, “Wu Gang Chopping Laurel Tree”, “Lunar Eclipse" and so on.

“Sweet moon cakes always transcend the beauty of the Moon.” It is a long tradition for Chinese people to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival by eating and making moon cakes. Our students also tasted and shared their moon cakes, which they made in the Baking & Dissert Course. Indeed, the small moon cakes have carried their infinite blessings and gratitude to all SIPFLSers.
