走进“枫叶之国”，感受跨国文化 ——记园外BC国际高中加拿大维多利亚夏令营
2019年7月13日，苏州工业园区外国语学校BC国际高中师生8人前往“花园城市”维多利亚开启为期30天的夏令营之旅。
On July 13th, 2019, a group of Gr10 students with a teacher from SIPFLS went to Victoria, "The Garden City", for a 30-day summer camp.
维多利亚，加拿大BC省的省会，是一个美丽、乐享生活的地方。它气候温和，一年四季绿草如茵，维多利亚大学作为加拿大顶尖综合类研究大学之一，令这个城市更具吸引力。
Victoria, the capital of BC, Canada, is a beautiful and enjoyable place to live. With a mild climate and year-round greenery, the University of Victoria is one of Canada's top comprehensive research universities, making the city even more attractive.
到校第一天，同学们和老师之间相互认识。来自中国、墨西哥、日本、韩国、德国的同学们组成了一个大家庭 —— Class D班，我们取名字为“Thunderbirds Family”，寓意五国学生具有雷鸟精神并相亲相爱。
On the first day of school, students and teachers got to know each other. Class D was made up of students from different countries including China, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, and Germany. We named it “Thunderbirds Family”, which means students from the five countries have the spirit of thunderbirds and love each other.
本次夏令营活动上午开设ESL (English as Second Language)课程的学习，侧重英语在实际生活中的运用及词汇的积累；下午体育、厨艺、舞蹈、棋类等课程着重提高学生的动手能力及体能训练，同时每周三次校外集体活动。
This summer camp offered ESL courses in the morning, focusing on the application of English in real life and the accumulation of vocabulary. Sports, cooking, dancing, chess and other courses in the afternoon were aimed at improving students' practical ability and physical training. Meanwhile, off-campus group activities were provided three times a week.
立法会参观 Legislature Tour
参观议会大厦内部，解读BC省徽章，洞悉立法步骤与席位安排，感知彩绘玻璃艺术。
Students visited the interior of the parliament building, understood the coat of arms of BC, learned about the legislative process and seating arrangements, and experienced the art of stained glass.

BC皇家博物馆 Royal BC Museum
了解BC省气候形成与变化，探索Maya和First Nations文化，穿越历史街。
Learn about how the climate of BC came in to being and changed, explored Maya civilization and the living conditions of the First Nations, and walked through the Old Town.

布查特花园 The Butchart Gardens
布查特花园原是一个荒废的石灰石采矿场，后来盖上了表层土，变成“世界最美花园”。园中的花草布景皆能看出园艺者的辛勤努力。
The Butchart Gardens was originally an exhausted limestone quarry before it was covered with topsoil and transformed into one of the most beautiful gardens in the world. The gardener's hard work can be seen in flowers and grass.
温哥华一日游 Vancouver Tour
吹着海风，坐着渡轮，仿佛置于海天一体之中。“飞越加拿大”利用先进技术模拟飞行员从东到西横跨加拿大。
Blowing the sea breeze, sitting on the ferry, we enjoyed the sea and sky. The film of "FlyOver Canada" presented an exhilarating journey across Canada from east to west.

The Kinsol Trestle is the tallest free-standing timber rail trestle in the world, being 600 feet long and 145 feet high. So hard to imagine that it was ever used for rail transport.

Kayaking is one kind of sport loved by local people in Victoria and it requires some skills to keep balance and paddle.
通过一个月的相处，同学们之间建立了深厚的感情，临别不舍之情难以言表，此次夏令营活动将是他们人生中一段难以忘记的回忆。
Through getting along with each other for a month, the students have established deep feelings. It is hard for them to wave farewell. This summer camp activity will be an unforgettable memory in their lives.
