2019年9月6日，苏州工业园区外国语学校举行2019-2020学年开学典礼。
The SIPFLS Opening Ceremony for the Academic Year 2019-2020 took place on September 6th 2019.
苏州工业园区外国语学校创始人张永红女士、执行校长潘鑫先生、副校长刘栋艳女士、副校长时雪松先生、IB国际高中校长Joel Seow 先生、BC国际高中校长William Skytte先生与全体教职工、全校同学共同出席开学典礼。
Guests and participants included: Ms. Zhang Yonghong, Founder of Suzhou Industrial Park Foreign Language School; Mr. Peter Pan, Executive Principal; Ms. Rowena Liu, Vice Principal; Mr. Ken Shi, Vice Principal; Mr. JOEL SEOW, IB Program Principal; Mr. WILL SKYTTE, BC Program Principal as well as all teachers, faculties and students.

The Opening Ceremony starts from all participants singing the school song.

The Student’s Favorite Teacher and Excellent International Teachers
为弘扬园外教师教书育人的优秀品质，营造更加和谐、平等的师生关系,展现教师爱岗敬业、无私奉献的精神面貌，进一步提升园外教师的师德水平，建设社会满意、家长放心、学生信赖的教师队伍，上学期末教研处开展了一年一度的“学生最喜爱的教师”评选活动。经学生投票、教研处统计，评选出园外“学生最喜爱的教师”。
To honor our outstanding SIPFLS teachers, and further enhance their morality, to maintain a harmonious and equal teacher-student relationship, as well as to improve parent and student satisfaction, the SIPFLS Training and Research Center launched a campaign of “The Student’s Favorite Teacher 2018” at the end of last semester. Based on the statistics from the Training and Research Center, the results of “The Student’s Favorite Teacher” and “Excellent International Teachers” were released on the Ceremony.

The school management team honored all the award-winners with certificates, including Founder Ms. Zhang; Principal Peter Pan; Principal Rowena Liu; Principal Ken Shi, Vice Principal; IB Principal Joel Seow and BC Principal William Skytte.
在园外还有一群不一样的教师队伍，他们不远万里来到园外，教学认真负责、积极配合学部、教研、组织丰富多彩的课外活动，课堂生动有趣，深受学生欢迎。
At SIPFLS, there are also a group of teachers from overseas. They are rigid, cooperative and dedicated in terms of teaching, research, and all kinds of extracurricular activities. They are also very popular among students since their classes are always rewarding and fun.

园外首届摄影大赛评奖名单宣读及颁奖。
上学期，红姐为了挖掘园外的摄影人才，丰富大家的业余生活，希望今后每学期在园外范围内举办摄影大赛，首届摄影大赛已经评出了少儿组、青少年组、教师组的一、二、三等奖，开学典礼上，同时颁发了首届园外摄影大赛的奖状及奖金。
Last semester, HONG JIE initiated a campaign of the First SIPFLS Photography Competition 2019 in order to discover the photography talents at our school, hoping that this competition can be held campus-wide every semester. As the result of the First SIPFLS Photography Competition 2019 has come out already, the hostess also announced the name list of all winners, in terms of the Children’s Group, the Teens Group, and the Teachers Group.

尊敬的红姐、亲爱的老师们、同学们：
大家上午好！
Distinguished Hong Jie, dear teachers and students:
Good morning!
秋风送爽的九月，我们相聚在美丽的园外校园，喜迎一年开学季。
我们可以发现：我们的校园一年比一年更美丽、我们的学生一年比一年笑的更灿烂！因为我们始终坚持每天进步一点点，作为学校来说，也是在追求不断的变化与进步。
In this cool and golden September, we gather together to greet the beginning of the new school year. We can find that our campus is getting more and more beautiful and the smile of our students is getting more and more brilliant year by year. It is because we insist on making progress day by day.
首先让我们对新生们表示欢迎，欢迎你们加入园外大家庭！此外，大家都升高了一个年级，课程难度有所提高，学业任务有所增多，但这也意味着你们又长大了，面对学习的压力，希望大家都能迎难而上，不断进步。
First of all, please allow me to express the sincerest welcome to the new students. Welcome to join SIPFLS family! Besides, all of you have entered a higher grade; the difficulty of lessons and the amount of assignments have increased. It also means you grow up a bit. I wish all of you can positively face the difficulties and make continuous progress.
这个暑假，有一部动画电影火爆荧屏，目前票房高达46.54亿，中国影史票房第二位，我说一句台词：“我是小妖怪，逍遥又自在。”大部分同学应该都知道片名了吧：《哪吒之童魔降世》。电影改编自中国神话，讲述了哪吒虽“生而为魔”却“逆天而行斗到底”的成长故事。父亲李靖对哪吒说道：“别在意别人的看法，你是谁，只有你自己说了才算。”师傅太乙真人有言：“人是否能够改变命运，我不晓得。我只晓得，不认命是哪吒的命。”影片结尾，哪吒也喊出了：“我命由我、不由天”的口号。
In this summer, an animated movie is popular all over the country and has won 4.6 billion RMB box office, ranked NO. 2 on China’s film revenue list. There is a famous line “I’m a little monster, happy and free.” I guess most of you already know what movie it is. Yes, it’s , adapted from Chinese mythology. It’s a growing story about Nezha, who was born as a monster, to fight against the destiny. Nezha’s father tells him:”Don’t mind other’s prejudice. Only you yourself can decide who you are.” His master Taiyi says:” I don’t know whether people can change their fates, what I know is the fate of Nezha is never accept the original fate.” In the end of the movie, Nezha says:” My fate is controlled by myself instead of the god.”
每个人的人生都掌握在自己的手中，老师和父母都只是你成长路上的引路人，你想成为什么样的人，有什么样的未来，只有你自己能决定。如今生活水平大幅提高，许多同学都是家境优越的，但是你要知道，这些都不是你自己创造的，是父母给你的，作为长辈总想给你最好的，为你创造更好的成长环境和条件，他们付出的艰辛也许从未告诉过你们。
Everyone’s destiny is controlled in his own hands. Parents and teachers are only the guides on your growing road. Who you want to be, what future you want to have, is all decided by yourself. Nowadays, the living standard has increased dramatically. Most of you are born in wealthy families. However, you must know that all you have now are given by your parents, not created by yourself. Parents always want to offer you best growing environment and conditions, and never tell you what they have done for you.
但是他们并没有义务做你一辈子的保护伞，我们要怀着一颗感恩的心，用自己的努力去掌握命运。因此，你当下的每一份努力与付出，拼搏与坚持，都是通往未来路上的小小一步。我希望园外的每一个孩子都能像哪吒一样，心怀大志，勇敢拼搏，做自己人生的主人！
But they don’t have the duty to protect you all your life. You should be grateful for your parents, and make your own efforts to master your destinies. Every effort and pain you make now is a small step to your future. I hope each of you can be as brave and aspiring as Nezha, work hard to be the master of your own life.
在新学年的开始，我还有几句话想要送给大家：
At the start of the new school year, I have some words to share with you.
第一句话：你的第一步很重要！
The first sentence is: Your first step is really important.
法国作家司汤达曾说：“入世之初就应该抓住第一次战斗的机会。”所以，在新学年的开始，请迈好自己的第一步。你的第一堂课，第一份作业，你交的第一个朋友，你的第一份学习计划，你为班级做的第一件事，你留给老师同学们的第一印象。古语有言，“合抱之木，生于毫末；九层之台，起于垒土；千里之行，始于足下。”请为新的学年写下一个漂亮的开头！
The French Writer Stendhal [stæŋ'dɑ:l] once said: “When we enter the world, we should seize the first chance to fight.” Thus, please make a good start of your new school year. Your first class, first homework, first friend, first study plan, the first thing you do for your class, the first impression you leave for your teachers and classmates…… There is an old Chinese saying, “A huge tree that fills one’s arms grows from a tiny seedling; a nine-storied tower rises from a heap of earth; a thousand miles journey starts with the first step.” Try your best to make a good start of this new semester!
第二句话：坚持的力量最强大！
Perseverance is the strongest power!
拥有一个好的开头固然重要，但还要有足够的恒心与毅力将这份“好”延续下去，形成良好的习惯，聚成强大的力量。每个成功人士光鲜亮丽的背后都付出了数不清的汗水和代价，不要总羡慕别人站在灯光闪耀的舞台上，你也一样可以，只要你坚持不放弃，努力拼搏，不在最好的年纪选择安逸。
A good start is not enough; you also need to have persistence and perseverance to form good habits and strong power to acquire good results. Every great man pays huge efforts behind his success. Don't just envy others standing on the stage with shining lights. You can also do it as long as you never give up, work hard and don’t choose comfort at the best age.
第三句话：诚心勤勉，学用四海。坚持践行养活教育！
Please keep in mind our school motto “Earnest, Diligent & Putting Knowledge into Practice with no Boundary”, and insist on devoting yourselves to “self-reliance” education.
诚心勤勉，学用四海是园外的校训。即真诚用心，勤劳不懈，努力学习，不断实践，用实际行动立足于世界各地各个领域。养活教育是园外的特色与核心，即不断学习不会做的事，不断改善会做的事，只有你亲身参与到劳动之中，才能深刻体会到劳动的美和乐趣，为家人和他人分担责任的自豪感和成就感，才能真正成为守规则、知感恩、会学习、懂生活的人。
As a student of SIPFLS, you need to treat people honestly, work hard, learn diligently, practice constantly, and finally grow into a capable global talent through practical actions. Self-reliance education is the feature and core of our school’s culture. You need to keep learning what you can’t do, and keep improving what you can do. Only when you personally participate in work and labor, can you realize the beauty and fun of labor, the sense of accomplishment of sharing responsibilities with your family and others. Only by “self-reliance” education, can you well follow rules, be grateful, know how to study, and know how to enjoy life.
第四句话：坚持阅读与运动！
Keep reading and exercising！
我们常说：“读万卷书，行万里路”。身体与心，总有一个要在路上。阅读是丰富人生、沉淀自我的最好方式，运动则是保持精力、健康生活的基石。新的学期，希望每一位同学都能坚持每天阅读一小时，运动一小时。
Just as the old Chinese saying:” Read ten thousand books, travel ten thousand miles”. You can either travel or read, but either your body or soul must be on the way. Reading is the best way to enrich life and improve oneself, while Exercising is the key to maintaining energy and living a healthy life. In the new semester, I hope each student can insist on reading one hour and exercising one hour everyday.
最后我想说：想要实现梦想，想要未来过自己想要的生活，就得趁年轻努力奋斗，做自己人生的主人。
If you want to realize your dream and live the life your want in the future, you must make great efforts at young age and be the master of your own life.
同学们，新的征程已经开启，请以最佳状态迎接挑战，抓住机遇！每个你们都是哪吒，我们终将成为自己的英雄。
Dear students, the new journey has begun. Please get into your groove to face the challenges and seize the opportunities. Each of you are “Nezha” and will finally be your own hero.
