苏州工业园区外国语学校养活教育（牧谷）基地——乐木新天地，学生作品展
在这个美丽的季节，苏州工业园区外国语学校国际初中八年级的同学们来到养活教育（牧谷）基地开始了为期两周的实践学习。除了参与基地日常课程安排之外，他们还带着一个特殊的任务，为自己的妈妈准备一份手作礼物，妈妈为家庭为孩子付出了太多，借此来表达对她们的感恩之情。
In this beautiful season, Junior High School Year 8 students arrived at Moku farm and started their two-week study here. They came here with multi-aims, one of which was to prepare a handmake gift for their mothers who have devoted so much to them and their families.
2015年9月，园外投入200多万元建起了全国最大、体系最完整的木工教室，300平米规模在全国中小学里堪称最大。2017年9月，木工教室在原来的基础上又扩大了一倍，乐木课堂作为必修课在园外小学1-6年级和初中开设，园外成为全国第一个将木工课程纳入必修课程的学校。乐木课堂成立的初衷就是为传承木工文化，培养孩子对木工的兴趣，在快乐中培养孩子的创造能力、思维能力、动手能力。对培养孩子的动手能力、学以致用的能力有极大帮助。
In September 2015, we invested over 2 million yuan to build the nation’s largest and most complete woodworking classroom. As the largest one among primary and secondary schools in China, it came into operation in September 2017 and doubled the size of the original 300-square-meter. Iwood class was offered as a compulsory course in Primary Division and Junior High Department. Our school has been the first one to offer iwood class as a compulsory course in the nation. Founded for inheriting woodwork culture, “iwood class”can arouse children’s interest and help them improve their creativity , thinking and hands-on skills.
在苏州工业园区外国语学校养活教育（牧谷）基地也有乐木课程，养活教育基地安静、质朴、远离城市喧嚣，学生们回归到自然中，真切体验泥土和木头的原味。走出传统的教室，沉浸在动手动脑的乐趣中，翱翔在养活教育的天空里。每个同学在创作时都有自己的想法，制作出的作品也有了灵魂。
We also offer iwood class at Moku farm. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Moku farm is very tranquil. Stepping out of the traditional classroom and returning to the nature, students experienced the original taste of soil and wood and enjoyed the teaching mode of “hands, brain and joy”.
国际初中八年级同学本期在基地乐木课堂的作品之一是笔筒。一提到笔筒，无非方形的，圆形的……园外的同学们，拓展思路，用他们充满想象的大脑和灵巧的双手给我们带来了不一样的乐木作品，有坦克笔筒，摇椅笔筒，佩奇笔筒，小兔笔筒等等，一块块平凡无奇的小木块，在老师的引导下，同学们创作出了一件件集“美貌与实用”于一身的作品。
One of the works of Year 8 students is the pen holder. Full of imagination in their mind, our students created their woodwork with their nimble hands. Instructed by teachers, they have created tanks pen holder, Pepper Pig pen holder, rabbit pen holder, which are beautiful but practical in life.
乐木教研组王老师说：“在基地乐木课堂良好的创作氛围中，同学磨炼的更加有毅力。”王老师用“越挫越勇，百折不饶”八个字形容了本期八年级同学的表现。相信通过园外践行的养活教育思想，通过乐木课堂动手动脑的锻炼，孩子们越来越能够独立思考，懂生活，会生活。
“In the good creative atmosphere of iwood class, students learned to persevere with their work. We firmly believe that our students will be more independent, be able to understand life and lead a life for the self-support education philosophy and iwood class.” According to Mr. Wang, a teacher of iwood class.
